My Top 5 Magical Girl Shows
If it’s not obvious, these are my top 5 for magical girl shows. Some didn’t make it in and the ones that are in may not need to be in, but I have my reasons of why I picked these shows. Let me know what you think of my list. What would your top 5 be?
#5 Princess Tutu
I’m sure there are quite a few people that have seen this show. Let me tell you how old I am. I was so old, it was hard to get a hold of any recent anime. There was an anime magazine, for the love Char I can’t remember what it was called, but they would have demo dvd of shows that would be coming out in the U.S. One was Princess Tutu. I watched the one episode they offer and I liked it, but not enough to find it in the void. Later, once the internet was kicking into gear for videos. I heard from a forum about how the ending went, and I was really intrigued by it. I decided to watch it all and see how it goes. Oh man. I liked it and didn’t like it at the same time. I want to spoil why, but it’s best not. What happened at the end is the reason why I’m placing this in fifth.
#4 Jubei-chan The Ninja Girl
Has anyone ever seen this show?! Please let me know, because I’ve not met anyone that has and the only other person I talk to, about it, is my brother! The craziest thing my brother like this show. Probably the humor it had. This was a pretty out there show, but I placed it in fourth because of how unique it was during the time. This show came out in 1999 and I had never seen a magical girl show like this before. Let’s see there was humor, like that’s probably what held the show together. The next best thing was the action. Yes. Ninja fights. They were good for a show that was about a girl turning into the spirit of the greatest ninja warrior in Japan. If you like silly comedies and ninjas, I would recommend to watch this.
#3 Card Captor Sakura
I can’t remember how I started watching the show, but I remembered getting sucked into it. Like crazy. It was cute, it was adorable, and too pure. I was in love with this show. Everything was so cute. The characters, the story, and the costumes! How is this not number one or two? As much as I loved this show, there was one thing about it for me. It was a very basic magical girl show. They gave a girl some powers and go collect some cards. That’s the story plot of the show. Each episode was a different card, that had it’s own powers. You could pretty much watch this show out of order. It starts getting serious around the third and final season. Now I haven’t watched the new show, clear cards (I’ve been really lazy about watching anime lately), but it seems like it carries the same premise that it’s earlier predecessor had.
#2 Kill la Kill
This show was amazing! I’ll admit that the beginning was a bit slow, but it seemed necessary to build the characters and understand the world that they were in. If I had the confidence, I would love to cosplay Ryuko and Satsuki in their transformed state. Above all, I would LOVE to cosplay, Ryuko’s friend, Mako. One as her usual high school uniform self and the two star goku uniform. This show had such a great ending and that’s what won me over for it to be number two.
#1 Sailor Moon
I was raised by sailor moon. I think sailor moon was my first anime…maybe, but it was definitely what got me into anime. I obsessed about sailor moon. I know all the songs, in English only, and I dressed up as sailor mars for halloween one year. I looked good too! I read the books, not the comics, but the adaptation from the show. I used to have a lot of accessories as well. You could ask any of the people that knew me in elementary and they’ll say yes! That’s why I put sailor moon on the top 5 magical girl show.
